The month of February is healthy heart month, a time to focus on your cardiovascular health. Our members celebrated by wearing red in honour of Day of Red. Our chapter wanted to share some of our favourite ways to keep your heart healthy and strong.
Tips for a Healthy Heart
A healthy-heart diet includes foods that are low in saturated and trans fat, added sugars, and sodium. Make sure you're providing your body with important nutrients, like potassium and healthy fats!
Staying active is extremely important when focusing on your heart health. Try and aim for at least 30 minutes of physical activity everyday. Go for a walk, do some yoga, try something new!
Always take time for yourself to relax and unwind. Have a spa day, a movie day or just some time for yourself. A healthy heart also includes a healthy mind.
Communicate with your Doctor
Having regular check-ups with your doctor can help detect and prevent future heart issues. Honest communication with your doctor about any symptoms or issues can improve your changes of early detection of heart related illnesses.
