OUr History

In 1872, ten young women met at Syracuse University in New York met to discuss the foundation of a new organization. Faced with the challenge of being denied entry to the fraternities on campus, these women decided to start their own:

The Alpha Phi Fraternity.

Our  founders were pioneers for co-education, innovation, women's rights and female empowerment.

Almost 150 years later, the vision and legacy of these ten women lives on in the hearts and minds of our sisters.

Founded in 2014, our chapter aims to empower and support women according to four ideals: generosity, sisterhood, character development and innovation.

Ottawa Alpha Phi provides women at uOttawa with a safe space to grow and learn.

It's a place to make meaningful friendships that will last a lifetime.

Alpha Phi is home away from home.
